We recently caught up with Tarannum to learn more about her innovation. She will be speaking at the 4th annual GVF Vertical Farming Show that will run September 13th through 14th, 2023, at the Movenpick Grand Al Bustan Dubai.

Q: What problem in agriculture are you solving?

A: Climate change, constrained supply chains, and geopolitical disputes have placed immense strain on the global food system, especially those countries such as the UAE that rely heavily on the import of agricultural products. The disruptions to the global food system have led to an increase in cost that ultimately results in a reduction in margin and/or demand for agricultural outputs. Through innovative and efficient farming techniques such as closed-loop hydroponic farming, Al Aliyo offers its consumers a locally grown alternative that is more sustainable and is available year-round. The quality and benefits of hydroponic fodder that Al Aliyo harvests provide additional benefits, including improved animal weight gain, milk yield, and animal health. Improved health leads to a reduction of GHG.

Al Aliyo’s basket of agriculture outputs ensures that consumers have access to a locally grown food source which reduces the dependency on imports and that ensures quality and cost efficiency.
