The ability to tell a good story creates an unforgettable impression, a feeling of connectedness, and inspires action and innovation.

Storytelling is a powerful way to inform and create change. The multimedia journalism project, From Farms to Incubators has been circulating it’s mini-documentary focusing on the stories of minority women entrepreneurs in agtech in the Salinas Valley and beyond, for the last year and a half. It has been screened  at the Carmel Film Festival, the 2018 EcoFarm Conference and the Salinas Valley AgTech Summit, among other venues.

On May 3 the new and expanded version of the documentary will debut at the Maya Cinemas in Salinas as part of this year’s Steinbeck Festival. It seems fitting then, that the Steinbeck Festivals 2018 theme is “the Women of Steinbeck’s World.” As an influential author and storyteller, John Steinbeck himself was inspired by many of the women in his life. One can’t help but wonder what Steinbeck would have thought of the dynamic and innovative women that the Farms to Incubators project brings to light?

Instead we look to our film goers, supporters and followers to continue to pass on the inspiration of this documentary as it continues to gain momentum, and adds new women to the project.

Join us on May 3, 2018 at 6 p.m. at the Maya Cinemas in Salinas, CA, as we premier the new extended version of the documentary of Women in Agtech.
